FAQs
-
How do I know if I need therapy? You might consider therapy if you're experiencing distressing emotions, struggling with relationships, facing major life changes, or noticing patterns of behavior that are causing problems in your life. However, therapy can also be beneficial for personal growth and self-discovery, not just for addressing specific problems.
-
Can I benefit from therapy even if I don't have a mental health diagnosis?Absolutely! Therapy is not just for people with diagnosed mental health conditions. It can benefit anyone who wants to improve their emotional well-being, cope with life's challenges, and live a more fulfilling life.
-
What if I'm not sure what my goals are for therapy? That's okay! Your therapist can help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns to identify potential goals for therapy. Therapy can also be a space for self-discovery and exploration, so it's okay if your goals evolve over time.
-
How can I make the most of my therapy sessions? To make the most of your therapy sessions, try to be open and honest with your therapist, actively participate in the process, and be willing to explore new perspectives and approaches. It can also be helpful to practice any coping skills or strategies you learn outside of therapy sessions.
-
Is therapy confidential?Yes, therapy is confidential. Your therapist is legally and ethically bound to keep your sessions private, except in certain situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.
-
What if I'm uncomfortable talking about certain topics? It's normal to feel uncomfortable discussing certain topics in therapy. A good therapist will create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore difficult feelings at your own pace. You can also let your therapist know if there are topics you're not ready to discuss yet.
